Hello, my name is Stephanie Fuller! I’m a fifth generation San Diegan, and music has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. At Saint James Academy, I joined choir in elementary school . We would sing various gospel songs at church every Friday morning. Twice in middle school, I had the incredible opportunity to perform in New York, at Carnegie Hall with Mr. Deke Sharon’s Total Vocal A Capella group. It was a wonderful, life changing experience! We had another similar opportunity during my freshman year of high school. We preformed at Lincoln Center, conducted by none other than Mr. Eric Whitacre.
I attended high school at Canyon Crest Academy. During my time there, I was apart of their after school Vocal Conservatory program for three years. We were trained in singing Opera. During that time, I had to sing pieces in various different languages, including Latin, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. In the summer before junior year, I learned how to play bass guitar, so that I could join the rock band class. In that class, I had to learn a new song each week. The goal being to learn about the history of the rock genre. For example, in the first week, we had to pick a blues song.
In 2022, I began the intensive one year diploma program for Audio Engineering at The Recording Arts Center. During my time there, I gained hand on experience in a professional recording environment. Starting in quarter one, we moved through the delicate process of music production. We each had to write a song, and later on, record and produce each other’s song for a project. I had never experienced anything like that before. Watching something that was an idea of mine, become a realty, was truly inspiring.

Each quarter, my intake was introduced to each of the studios available at Studio West, San Diego. We started with the smaller, more intimate Studio C. Studio C is a fantastic studio for one on one recording, like vocals or guitar. I learned how to digitally mix the tracks that I recorded in that room. During quarter two, I was introduced to Studio B, which offers both digital and analog options. Eventually, in quarter three, I was taught how to find my way around Studio A, the largest tracking space in San Diego. Complete with a 64 Channel SSL 4064 E/G board, and lots of outboard gear, I learned to track and mix music in an entirely analog environment . For the final Capstone project, I did a full cover of the song Schism by Tool. I recorded the drums in Studio A. I also played the bass part myself.
Music has and will always be apart of my life. My goal is to help others make their dreams a reality. Nothing is more satisfying than taking an another persons artistic vision, and allowing others to experience and enjoy it too!
